Which Copperfield Models This Applies To

Copperfield crowns are found across their full residential line, but the repair approach differs by model. The Copperfield CF-100 and CF-200 series use a standard 4-inch-thick concrete crown with a 2-inch overhang, while the CF-300 and CF-400 series (common on larger Manassas colonial-style homes) use a wider pour with a drip edge that extends 3 inches past the brick line. The crown on a Copperfield chase cover is a different part entirely - that’s sheet metal, not concrete - and it needs a different fix.

To identify what you have without climbing up: look for the model plate on the firebox door or the damper frame. If the plate is gone, measure the outside width of the chimney at the top; anything over 24 inches wide is almost always a CF-300 or CF-400, and the crown repair will need a full form-and-pour rather than a patch. As for OEM vs aftermarket: Copperfield doesn’t sell direct replacement crowns as a standalone part. What you’re buying is the skill of the pour - the concrete mix, the expansion joint, the slope. Signs Your Copperfield Crown Repair Is Failing

• The flue liner tile is visibly exposed at the top. Once the crown has spalled back far enough to expose the clay tile, that tile is now taking direct weather and will crack next.
