Copperfield Chimney Cap & Crown Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Copperfield Chimney Cap & Crown in Manassas: What to Know First

A Copperfield chimney cap or crown replacement in Manassas typically runs $340-$890 for the cap and $600-$1,400 for a crown rebuild, depending on flue size and chase condition. As an independent Copperfield service provider, we install and repair the full range on a one-to-two-week schedule, always with a written price before any work starts. We’re not affiliated with Copperfield, and we don’t need to be: our techs work on their caps and crowns every week, and we stock the parts that matter. If you own a Copperfield and something’s failing up top, call (571) 946-2300 and we’ll put a camera on it.

How Copperfield Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Copperfield builds solid caps and crowns, but every product line has a pattern. Here’s what shows up on Manassas roofs, season after season.

  • Copperfield Legacy Series caps lose their screen mesh before the lid fails. The mesh is aluminum on older Legacy units, and after 8 to 12 Manassas winters it corrodes at the frame seam. Squirrels find the gap, birds follow. We replace the screen with stainless and keep the lid if it’s still sound. Half the cost of a new cap.
  • The Copperfield Classic multi-flue cap collects creosote at the center brace. The brace sits directly over the flue opening on two-flue installations, which means condensation drips onto it and bakes into Class III creosote. We see it on nearly every Classic we pull. Fix is removal, a full creosote treatment, and a brace redesign using offset brackets so nothing hangs over the gas path.
  • Crown cracks on Copperfield’s standard pour are almost never the weather’s fault. They’re a mix issue. The original crown was poured too wet on some production runs, and the surface cures before the core, leaving hairline stress cracks within two years. Once water gets in, spalling starts. We knock out the loose material and recast the crown at the correct slump with a bond break so it can move without cracking.
  • Copperfield’s stainless rain caps can rust at the weld points on the StormGuard line. It’s not the steel. It’s the weld filler on units made before 2019; the filler corrodes faster than the cap body. We cut out the failed welds and re-weld with matching 316L filler, then passivate the area. Cap looks new, and it costs a third of replacement.
  • Copperfield chase covers warp when the chase itself has no drainage slope. We regularly see flat covers with a half-inch pond of water in the center, which eventually eats through at the seams and drips into the attic. Fix is a new cover pitched at 1/4 inch per foot with soldered corners, not a caulk bead.

What Copperfield Chimney Cap & Crown Costs in Manassas

Here are the numbers we quote most often on Copperfield work in Manassas. Every one of these is a written, line-item price you see before we start.

Job Typical Range What Moves It
Copperfield cap replacement (single flue) $340-$560 Flue size, roof pitch, chase access
Copperfield multi-flue cap (2-3 flues) $680-$890 Width, custom spacing
Crown recoat / waterproof seal $280-$450 Crown surface area, crack count
Crown rebuild (standard chimney) $600-$1,100 Flue count, demolition depth
Crown rebuild + new cap $890-$1,400 Both above combined
Custom Copperfield cap (chase mount) $720-$1,300 Chase dimensions, finish

The biggest price driver is chase condition. If the crown is cracked but the chase is solid, you pay for a crown. If the chase is rusted through, you’re paying for a chase cover too, and there’s no honest way around it. We use OEM Copperfield parts when the warranty is still active and the part is available locally. When lead times are 4 to 6 weeks or the OEM price is untouchable, we quote a quality aftermarket equivalent and tell you exactly what you’re getting. The written price is the same either way - no surprises after the fact. Call (571) 946-2300 for a free estimate, and we’ll put numbers on paper before anything else.

Our Copperfield Chimney Cap & Crown Process

  1. 1
Call and a real person answers. You describe what you’re seeing, we ask what kind of chimney, and we schedule a visit. No forms, no callbacks.
  2. 2
Camera inspection first. Every Copperfield job starts with an NFPA 211 Level 2 inspection - camera down the flue, photos of the crown, cap, and chase from the roof. That’s Clause 4 of the Haven Standard: a documented photo record on every visit, and it’s been our default since 2009.
  3. 3
Written price before work starts. Corrine Halstead reviews the footage and the measurements, then writes the line-item estimate. You see the price, the scope, and the warranty in writing before any tool leaves the truck.
  4. 4
Parts decision. If the OEM part is warrantied and obtainable, we use it. If not, we quote an aftermarket equivalent and explain the material difference in one sentence. You choose with the numbers in front of you.
  5. 5
The work. Cap off, crown assessed, repair or rebuild carried out. All debris is kept out of the flue with a drop cloth over the opening. The new cap is installed with stainless hardware, never zinc.
  6. 6
Photo record and sign-off. We photograph the finished work, document what was replaced and why, and hand you the record. Then we back it with the 365-Day Done Right Promise - if it’s not done right, we make it right.

Why Manassas Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Manassas for Copperfield Work

Why Manassas Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Manassas for Copperfield Work

Most calls we get come after another company told the homeowner they need a new liner or a full rebuild without showing them a single photo. That’s not how we operate. We hand you the camera evidence before we quote anything. When we say a Copperfield crown needs rebuilding, we’re showing you the cracks, the spalling, and the measurements. “The camera already told me. I’m just writing it down for you.” That’s Corrine’s line, and it’s how every job runs.

We’ve completed more than 38,000 chimney inspections and cleanings since 2009, and every single one came with a written price before work started and a documented record when it was done. We also work across the full material range - DuraFlex liners, HeatShield resurfacing, Gelco cast-in-place systems - which means if your Copperfield cap is fine but the flue below it isn’t, we catch it in the same visit and quote it in writing. That’s the point of a real inspection.

If you already have a written estimate from another Manassas company, bring it to us. We’ll give you a free second opinion on it, and we’ll tell you honestly if it’s fair. Not every estimate is, and homeowners deserve better than a tech naming numbers from the driveway. Call (571) 946-2300. Live person, 24/7.
